Housing

Even by Florida standards, Tallahassee sets the bar high when it comes to top-notch living. This means rolling hills, lush landscapes and, best of all, affordable housing. What’s more is that Tally, as the locals call it, offers plenty of options for your next home, from townhouses and single-family dwellings to Aging in Place and transitional care facilities.

Real Estate

Tallahassee’s real estate market benefits from an array of neighborhoods that distinguish themselves based on location, home style, amenities, and atmosphere.

Levy Park and Lafayette Park, for example, are conveniently located near trendy Midtown and maintain the architectural charm of old Tallahassee.

On the other hand, Canopy: A Community with Deep Roots, brings the best of new construction to a suburban setting that embraces the natural landscape around it. With amenities like a neighborhood clubhouse and pool, dog parks and gardens, and nature trails, homes at Canopy beg for you to settle in on the porch swing with a tall glass of sweet tea.

Active Living

Another new 55+ community to call Tallahassee home is Laurel Oaks at Canopy. With construction beginning in early 2019, the active adults community will offer a wide range of housing including single family homes, duplexes, and bungalow mews homes. The focal point of Laurel Oaks will be a community center where neighbors can gather and socialize.

Continuing Care

Planting roots is easy with continuing care communities. Offering all stages of care from active living to all-day assistance, Vestcor is opening a new community during the summer of 2019. Plans include a movie theater and beauty salon.

Assisted Living

Assisted living communities in Tallahassee pride themselves on adaptable care customized to each resident’s individual needs. The staff at Tapestry Senior Living view their roles as that of guides and helpers. Their spacious Assisted Living studio apartments and Memory Care suites offer the privacy and comfort that Tallahassee seniors deserve.

Aging in Place

In 2012, the first Aging in Place (AIP) home was constructed to code in Tallahassee. This home served as a template for Florida builders and since then, many homes have followed suit.

AIP features are not the same as homes with handicapped accessibility, although there are some commonalities, such as wider hallways and doorways, roll-in showers, raised electrical outlets, and thermostats at wheelchair height.

With an AIP residence, you can add resale value to your home while planning for an independent future.
